TOP 10 most beautiful plants (that you might have in your garden and could quickly spread a wildfire)

Pampas Grass

Dittany

Melaleuca

Palm

Toyon

Japanese Honeysuckle

Maiden Grass

Broom

Thuja

Algerian Ivy

How beautiful are the plants listed above? They are definitely gorgeous! But also, dangerous. They are, in fact, some of the most flammable plants in the world, due to their high amount of resin or low moisture content of their leaves and branches. If not well cured, these plants may become a terrible threat to your beautiful garden.

Talking about wildfire has become more and more common in the last years, especially this summer, when the Amazon Forest lost over 700 square miles of its stunning landscape, mostly due to human activity. Deforestation has always been part of farmers’ tradition over the decades, but the new administration of neo-elected president Bolsonaro pledged to increase agricultural activity and has let the fire spread over 25% larger than the year before.

If you are interested in the topic to check the article by the National Geographic covering the Amazonian fires.

What correlates the Amazon Forest with the fight against climate change? “Amazonia” represents a natural, enormous carbon sink for our atmosphere. Thanks to the photosynthesis process, the trees and plants pull carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere, helping our planet “to breath”. Due to this year's large fires, the forest has pushed in the air “something like 90 billion tons of carbon dioxide”, said Thomas Lovejoy to the microphones of The Washington Post. A terrifying number which should encourage us to stop being quiet and start rising our voices, because our home is on fire!
